The Minnesota Organization of Registered Nurses has also issued a statement on Pretti's death.

"Today, our nursing community is grieving. We have lost a fellow registered nurse to an act of violence connected to immigration enforcement. Regardless of where each of us stands on the issues surrounding this moment, the loss of a nurse, a caregiver, a colleague, a human being cuts us deeply," the statement reads.

"This message is not about politics. It is about mourning a life taken too soon and honoring the calling we all share.

Family members have identified the victim as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, an "avid outdoorsman who loved getting in adventures with Joule, his beloved Catahoula Leopard dog who also recently died."

His family told The Associated Press he was a nurse in the intensive care unit who had been protesting Good's death.

“He cared about people deeply and he was very upset with what was happening in Minneapolis and throughout the United States with ICE, as millions of other people are upset,” Michael Pretti, Alex’s father, told The Associated Press. “He felt that doing the protesting was a way to express that, you know, his care for others.”

The NBA said a game scheduled tonight between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors has been postponed until tomorrow.

A statement said the game was rescheduled to "prioritize the safety and security of the Minneapolis community." It did not reference today's shooting.

The City of Minneapolis is again asking people to stay away from the scene of the shooting, which has been the site of intense protests and clashes with federal officers through the day. State troopers are on scene.

"We understand the community is angry and has every right to be," the city said in a post on X.

"Your right to protest is protected; however, vandalism and violence is not. Your safety is paramount."

In his first comments about the shooting, Trump repeated the federal officials' account that ICE agents fired to "protect themselves" in the course of their work. He blamed local politicians and police officials for the shooting, referencing a fraud scandal around the theft of federal funds for social-welfare programs in Minnesota as justification for sending federal agents to the state.

"Much of what you’re witnessing is a COVER UP for this Theft and Fraud," the president wrote in a ranging post on his Truth Social platform. "The Mayor and the Governor are inciting Insurrection, with their pompous, dangerous, and arrogant rhetoric!"

Minnesota governor condemns Trump, ICE after another fatal shooting

At a news conference, Gov. Tim Walz again called on the Trump administration to halt ICE operations in Minnesota after another person was killed in a shooting involving federal officers in Minneapolis on Saturday. He accused 'the most powerful people in the federal government' of trying to 'spin a narrative' and said, 'Thank God we have video.'

Walz's news conference has concluded. Throughout his remarks, the governor said the Trump administration is "sowing chaos and violence" in Minnesota.

He also accused "the most powerful people in the federal government" of "spinning stories" about the reality on the ground.

"Thank God we have video," he said. "It's nonsense, people. It is nonsense and it's lies."

The governor also had strong words around the language used to describe the federal officers.

"Quit calling these people law enforcement. They are not law enforcement. We have law enforcement, who do an incredible job. And to listen to Greg Bovino denigrate the work of our people who are out there cleaning up their mess? No."

Taking questions, a reporter notes Walz has been making the same requests since Operation Metro Surge launched in December to no avail.

Walz said he spoke with the president's Chief of Staff Susie Wiles today to repeat his request to withdraw federal agents. He said he told her "with no uncertain terms" that state officials will be leading this investigation.

"Do I have any confidence Donald Trump will do the right thing? No, I don't have a lot of confidence that Donald Trump will do the right thing," the governor said. "I do have a lot of confidence that the majority of American people will do the right thing."

Jacobson said state officials are "doing everything they can" to investigate the shooting. He also acknowledges Minnesotans' constitutional right to protest, but said it's critical that those demonstrations remain peaceful so authorities can focus on that case.

Minnesota's public safety commissioner Bob Jacobson begins by offering his condolences to the family of the man who was killed.

"I want to pause and remember what cannot get lost in this moment: a man died. His family and friends are feeling unimaginable heartbreak and trauma and I know Minnesotans and our community will rally around this man's family and friends" he said.

Standing behind Jacobson, Walz dropped his chin to his chest.
