BRUSSELS — European unification regulators on mon opened a formal investigating into Elon Musk's societal media program X after his artificial intelligence chatbot Grok started spewing nonconsensual sexualized deepfake images on the platform.

That probe opened in 2023 and is still ongoing. It has so far resulted in a 120 million euro fine in December for breaches of the transparency requirements.
