The charges Wedding is facing in California include three murders in Ontario. Among them, the mistaken-identity shootings of the Sidhu family in Caledon, Ont., in November 2023. Authorities said parents Jagtar and Harbhajan Sidhu were killed over a stolen drugs shipment that passed through Southern California.
"He could definitely challenge jurisdiction before the California court of some of the charges that have been put in place. I think his chances would be unlikely."

Wedding’s arrest concluded a search that started in 2015, when he was living in Montreal and the RCMP sought to arrest him on cocaine trafficking charges.
Authorities have said Wedding and his alleged second-in-command, Canadian Andrew Clark, ordered a 2023 mistaken-identity shooting of an Indian family in Caledon, Ont. The shooting left Jagtar Sidhu and his wife Harbhajan Sidhu dead, and their daughter Jaspreet Kaur Sidhu with what police called “life-altering injuries.”

Wedding was apprehended in Mexico City late last week before being transported to the U.S. To be arraigned. The 44-year-old is alleged to have been the mastermind of a smuggling operation that funnelled some 60 metric tonnes of cocaine into Canada and the U.S.
Ryan Wedding, the Canadian ex-Olympic snowboarder who allegedly became a violent drug kingpin, will make his first appearance in a California court at 4 p.m. ET this afternoon.
Wedding was on the run from law enforcement for a decade and was on the FBI’s most wanted list before he was arrested last week.
The 44-year-old is facing several charges related to murder and drug trafficking.
