According to reports, they are expected to be lodged at Guwahati Central Jail while the probe, led by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam CID, enters a crucial phase.SIT chief and Special DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta confirmed that the five accused were produced in court after their police custody ended. “We had arrested seven people, and the police custody of five persons has been completed, so we are producing them before the court today. The custody of the remaining two will be over the day after tomorrow,” he had told ANI earlier. He also added that two witnesses had already appeared at the CID office to record their statements, with one more expected. “That takes the total to 10 people who have appeared before the CID. We have also received a communication requesting the names of officers who will be visiting Singapore for an investigation, which is a standard process. We are waiting for their response,” Gupta said.The arrests came nearly a month after Zubeen Garg’s untimely death on September 19, earlier this year. The news of his death sent shockwaves across the state, sparking public outrage and demands for a transparent probe.Following preliminary findings, the Assam Police constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the case, citing inconsistencies in the events leading up to his death. Over the weeks, multiple individuals linked to the singer’s personal and professional circle were questioned.The current judicial remand marks a significant development in the investigation, which is expected to expand further in the coming days, including possible inquiries abroad as part of the international leg of the probe.
