Security upped in Uttar Pradesh for Alvida Juma prayers, 1,000 cops deployed in Lucknow

In readying for Alvida Jumma, the net fri of Ramzan, certificate measures feature been significantly ramped up across Uttar Pradesh, as per police officials.Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhishek Bharti said the security arrangements include the deployment of Quick Reaction Teams (QRT), Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) in sensitive areas to ensure law and order."The entire city has been divided into sectors and zones in view of the Alvida prayers. QRT teams have been deployed in sensitive areas. PAC and RAF are also being stationed. Surveillance is being conducted using drones. Foot patrols are being carried out," news agency ANI quoted DCP Bharti.1,000 cops deployed in LucknowAdditionally, Joint Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Babloo Kumar, stated that more than 1,000 police personnel and nine PAC companies have been deployed in Lucknow for enhanced security. More than 1,000 police personnel and nine companies of PAC have been deployed in the district. Proper traffic diversions have been made to ensure the smooth flow of traffic. Police officials also held peace committee meetings with the religious leaders and also appealed to offer namaz in their religious places. This year, Ramadan began on March 2, following the sighting of the crescent moon on the previous Saturday.Ramzan culminates with the breaking of the fast at sunset, called 'Iftar,' and concludes with the celebration of Eid after the sighting of the next crescent moon.Since Ramzan began on March 2 in India, Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to be celebrated on March 31 or April 1, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon, which marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.
